What life invites you to grow toward

Destiny 8 — STAND

Take a position without needing a battle.

Prince has Destiny 8 in this calculation. STAND asks how someone can meet consequential choices without abandoning themselves or needing adversity to prove their strength.

Growth becomes tied to opposition, proving toughness, or avoiding any choice that could have consequences.
With more choice STAND
Choose a challenge at a pace you can support. A clear position can belong to an ordinary day, not only a conflict.

02 / Wound

Where a capacity may have become complicated

Wound 10 — LEAD

Hold direction without carrying every outcome.

Wound 10 asks where responsibility or visibility may become costly. The question is whether a person can lead without becoming answerable for everyone else’s reactions. It does not establish what happened to Prince.

Under pressure CONTROL
Try to guarantee outcomes, manage every contribution, or stay indispensable. The opposite response is to hide a direction because carrying it feels too expensive.
With more choice LEAD
Name what is yours to direct and what belongs to someone else. Responsibility can have limits without becoming abandonment.

03 / Discipline

What becomes trustworthy through practice

Discipline 6 — ANCHOR

Make commitments you can renew.

Discipline 6 asks how steadiness becomes sustainable. A reliable yes needs clear limits, recovery, and the ability to make a new agreement when conditions change.

Under pressure CARRY
A commitment continues after capacity or consent has changed. Reliability becomes taking on more rather than making the agreement honest.
With more choice ANCHOR
Keep the promise in contact with what is possible. Renegotiate before resentment becomes the only signal that something needs to change.

04 / Vocation

How a capacity becomes a contribution

Vocation 7 — PERCEIVE

Make what you notice available to others.

Vocation 7 asks how a subtle possibility becomes an offering. The value is not only seeing something, but giving others a way to encounter and examine it.

Mystery, certainty, or being difficult to understand begins to stand in for a useful contribution. Others are asked to trust the perception without being able to question it.
With more choice PERCEIVE
Give the perception a clear form. Let someone else understand, test, or respond to it without needing to see exactly what you see.

05 / Power

What happens when a capacity has consequences

Power 5 — HEAL

Use influence to make more possible.

Power 5 asks whether influence can restore or widen possibility. The question is what becomes available to other people—not whether the person holding influence can fix everything.

Under pressure RESCUE / FIX
Influence becomes organized around being needed. Helping can slip into taking charge of someone else’s process.
With more choice HEAL
Look for increased agency rather than dependence. Accept that support may include a limit, a handoff, or allowing someone else to lead.

06 / Integration

How the experience becomes livable within you

Integration 10 — LEAD

Let the inner life have a voice in the direction.

Ten returns in Integration. Here the question is not what Prince might direct outwardly, but whether feeling can inform direction without being immediately turned into a plan.

Under pressure CONTROL
Eliminate uncertainty through planning, or set feeling aside to keep the direction looking secure.
With more choice LEAD
When a pause is safe, hear what the feeling is telling you before choosing an action. Not knowing yet need not take away your ability to lead.

What needs to be felt before I decide what comes next?

Same 10. Different work.

Wound asks whether responsibility can feel safe enough to hold. Integration asks whether direction can remain in contact with feeling. Neither asks for total control.

Now watch the parts meet.

A Full Reading is not six separate definitions. The Bridges ask what happens as one part of life meets another.

A chosen position needs support and a sustainable practice. Protect the time needed to develop that support rather than turning commitment into immediate obligation.

Discipline · ANCHOR → Vocation · PERCEIVE

Crossing Verb: INTEGRATE · Posture: Threshold

What has been practiced needs a form others can understand. Gather the useful parts, prepare for public use, and keep private complexity from becoming someone else’s burden.

Crossing Verb names how the relationship moves. Posture qualifies that individual crossing—not a stage of achievement.

The useful distinction

Stand for something. Sustain the practice. Make it shareable.

A creative direction becomes more usable when its form can develop without requiring the person to carry everything.

03 / The whole Field

Signature 10
LEAD

Prince’s Signature is 10 — LEAD. The whole-field question is how a direction can hold together perception, responsibility, steadiness, influence, and an ordinary inner life.

This is an orientation—not a title, a fixed identity, or proof of mature leadership.

The direction can become a reason to oversee everything, or a plan that leaves too little space for feedback and feeling.
With more choice · LEAD
Make the direction clear and its limits honest. Let others carry responsibility, let reality revise the plan, and keep the work larger than one person’s control.

Prince’s public career gives us a setting for creative perception, changing arrangements, and making room for others. It does not establish his private motives or a prescribed path through the Field.

    A possibility made audible. Prince produced, arranged, composed, and performed his 1978 debut, For You. [1]

    In this reading: Vocation 7 asks how something perceived becomes an offering someone else can encounter.

  • Vocation → Power · SURRENDER

    A direction beyond one arrangement. During his dispute with Warner Bros. over release pace and master ownership, he changed his name and launched NPG Records. [2]

    In this reading: This SURRENDER crossing asks what can change without abandoning the work. It is not submission or a judgment against artistic ownership.

  • Power 5 · HEAL

    Influence that made room for others. NPG Records released work by artists including Chaka Khan and Larry Graham. [3]

    In this reading: Power 5 asks whether influence widens possibility for others rather than making them depend on its holder.
